This person would:
- Build and maintain relationships with local ministries and nonprofits outside of the congregation, primarily with the volunteer coordinators.
- Determine the organizations’ needs for on-going Skilled-Based Volunteers (SBV’s), as opposed to episodic unskilled volunteers. Obtain simple job descriptions.
- Publicize those needs within the congregation, through the electronic newsletter, displays, pre-service slide roll, personal appeals, and even a volunteer fair.
- Identify volunteers and connect them with the organizations’ volunteer coordinators.
- Collect hours through a quarterly follow-up with each organization’s volunteer coordinator. All of them keep records of volunteer hours and most of them keep records of performance.
- Recognize the results, including volunteer tasks, time invested, and, most importantly, impact.
